Church Leadership
Why Every Church Leader Should Claim Their Church Profile
A practical invitation for church leaders to keep their congregation visible, accurate, and easy to find.
When I began building RestorationChurches.org, my goal was not simply to create another church directory. My prayer was to build a resource that would help people find faithful Restoration Movement churches, strengthen connections between congregations, and ultimately point more people to Jesus Christ.
As our directory continues to grow, we have been working to add Restoration Movement churches from across the country, making it easier for people to discover congregations rooted in Scripture.
If you are an elder, minister, or church leader, there is a good chance your church is already listed.
The first step is simple: search for your church. If you find it, claim your profile and take ownership of the information people see when they discover your congregation online.
Claiming your profile is more than updating a listing. It is an opportunity to represent your church well, connect with people searching for a biblical congregation, and become part of a growing network of Restoration Movement churches committed to making Christ known.
1. Make Sure Your Church Is Represented Accurately
No one knows your church better than you do.
While we have worked hard to build each church profile with publicly available information, details can change over time. Service times are adjusted, staff members change, websites are updated, and ministries grow.
When you claim your profile, you can ensure visitors always have accurate information, including worship and Bible study times, contact information, your church website, social media links, ministry descriptions, leadership information, and photos of your congregation and facilities.
A few minutes of updating today can prevent confusion for someone planning to visit tomorrow.
2. Help More People Find Your Church
Every week, people search online for a church home.
Some have recently moved into the area. Others are returning to church after years away. Some are simply looking for a congregation committed to teaching God's Word.
If they do not know your church exists, they cannot visit.
RestorationChurches.org is designed to help people discover Restoration Movement churches in their communities and connect them with your congregation.
Every claimed profile becomes another doorway through which someone may encounter the gospel.
3. Your Profile Complements Your Website
Many churches already have excellent websites, and that is a wonderful thing.
RestorationChurches.org is not intended to replace your church's website. Instead, it serves as a bridge that helps people discover your church in the first place.
Think of your profile as the front door.
Someone may search for a church in your area, find your listing on RestorationChurches.org, learn a little about your congregation, and then click directly through to your church's website to learn more.
If your church already has a website, claiming your profile simply helps more people find it.
4. Tell Your Church's Story
Every congregation has a story worth telling.
Your church has unique ministries, unique strengths, and unique opportunities to serve your community.
Claiming your profile allows you to introduce your congregation to prospective visitors.
Tell people about your mission. Highlight your ministries. Introduce your leadership. Explain what visitors can expect when they walk through your doors.
Instead of allowing your church to be represented by outdated or incomplete information, you can present your congregation in a way that reflects who you are today.
5. Strengthen a Growing Network
RestorationChurches.org exists for something larger than a directory.
Our vision is to strengthen the visibility of Restoration Movement churches by creating a trusted resource that helps churches and communities connect.
Every congregation that claims its profile helps improve the directory for everyone.
As more churches participate, families can more easily find a faithful congregation when they move, ministers can connect with one another, church planters can identify underserved areas, and churches throughout the Restoration Movement become easier to discover across the country.
Together, we can create a resource that serves both today's churches and future generations.
6. Be Ready for Future Resources
Claiming your church profile is only the beginning.
As RestorationChurches.org continues to expand, we plan to develop additional tools and resources designed specifically for church leaders. These may include ministry resources, job postings, networking opportunities, church analytics, and other services that strengthen local congregations.
Churches with claimed profiles will be best positioned to take advantage of these future developments.
Your Church May Already Be Listed
One of the most common surprises we hear is, "I did not realize our church was already on the website."
There is a good chance it is.
Take a moment to search for your congregation. If you find it, claim the profile and make it your own. If your church is not listed yet, you can submit it for inclusion free of charge.
It only takes a few minutes, but it helps ensure your church is represented accurately and makes it easier for people searching for a faithful congregation to find you.
